Six Mandatory Subjects for FTNA 2026 Private Candidates Seeking CSEE Eligibility

Mandatory Subjects for FTNA 2026 Private Candidates Seeking CSEE Eligibility

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has announced that all private candidates intending to sit for the Form Two National Assessment (FTNA) in 2026 must fulfill specific subject registration requirements in order to qualify for the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE). The directive outlines a clear framework of compulsory subjects that every private candidate must register before being considered eligible.

This clarification is intended to guide candidates who are preparing independently and seeking to progress within the national examination system.

Mandatory Subjects for FTNA 2026 Private Candidates Seeking CSEE Eligibility

Private candidates registering for FTNA 2026 are required to enroll in six (6) mandatory subjects. These subjects form the foundation of the assessment and are compulsory for all candidates seeking CSEE eligibility. The required subjects are:

  1. Mathematics
  2. Kiswahili
  3. English Language
  4. Business Studies
  5. Geography
  6. History of Tanzania and Moral Education

Registration is only considered complete when all six mandatory subjects are included. These subjects are essential for determining a candidate’s qualification to proceed to the CSEE.

Optional Subjects Registration

In addition to the compulsory subjects, private candidates are permitted to register optional subjects, provided the total number does not exceed three (3). The selection of optional subjects must comply with the examination format prescribed for FTNA. The inclusion of optional subjects does not alter the requirement to register all six mandatory subjects, which remain a prerequisite for eligibility.
