The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has released the official GATCE Timetable for May 2026 outlining the examination schedule for the Grade A Teacher Certificate Examination.
According to the timetable, the examinations will begin on Monday, 4 May 2026, and continue until Tuesday, 12 May 2026, with morning sessions running from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and afternoon sessions scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Below is the official timetable released by NECTA.

Important Instructions for Candidates
Alongside the timetable, NECTA also issued a Notice to Candidates containing essential rules that must be followed during the examination period.
Candidates are required to appear at their assigned examination centres and strictly follow all instructions provided by supervisors and invigilators responsible for conducting the examinations.
Candidates must also ensure they arrive on time for each examination session. Late arrivals may not be permitted to enter the examination room.
The council further emphasizes that candidates are only allowed to bring materials specifically permitted for the examination. Any attempt to cheat, assist others, or bring unauthorized materials may result in disqualification from the examination and exclusion from future examinations conducted by the council.
During the examination:
- Communication between candidates is strictly prohibited.
- Candidates must write their examination number correctly on every page of the answer booklet.
- All answers should be written using blue or black ink, while drawings must be done in pencil.
- Smoking and any form of misconduct are not permitted inside the examination room.
Important Notes from NECTA
NECTA advises candidates to carefully read the Notice to Candidates and follow all examination regulations. If any contradictions arise between the timetable and examination instructions, the details shown on the question paper will take precedence.
The council also states that the examination will continue as scheduled even if the examination date falls on a public holiday.
