The Government of Malawi has officially released the Malawi University Selection 2026/2027 results, confirming the list of students selected into public universities and colleges for the upcoming academic year. A total of 32,527 candidates applied for selection into public universities. Out of these, 29,812 candidates qualified for consideration. From the eligible group, 20,682 students have been selected into public universities and colleges for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Among those selected, 10,597 students have been admitted into six public universities through face-to-face learning, representing 36% of eligible candidates. The selected group includes 73 students with Special Educational Needs. Gender distribution stands at 59% male and 41% female.
The breakdown by institution shows that the University of Malawi has admitted 2,898 students, followed by MUBAS with 2,651 students, LUANAR with 1,702, MZUNI with 1,827, MUST with 689, and KUHeS with 830 students.
In addition, 7,776 candidates have been selected through Open Distance eLearning programmes, accounting for 26% of eligible applicants. A further 1,000 students have been admitted to LUANAR under the Economic Fee-Paying mode.
Teacher training colleges have also admitted 1,309 candidates, with 779 placed at Domasi College and 530 at Nalikule College.

Secretary for Education, Science and Technology Ken Ndala stated that selecting students by programme rather than bed space has enabled more candidates to be absorbed into the system.
