HESLB Announces Completion of First-Quarter Allowance Payments for 2025/2026 Academic Year

The Higher Education Students Loan Board (Higher Education Students Loan Board) has announced major progress in the disbursement of meals and accommodation allowances for student loan beneficiaries in the 2025/2026 academic year, confirming that first-quarter payments have largely been completed.

In an official update released on Friday, December 19, 2025, HESLB informed students benefiting from its loan scheme that payments for the first quarter of the academic year have been finalized for the majority of eligible recipients. The announcement marks a significant milestone in the Board’s efforts to ensure timely financial support for students across higher learning institutions.

90 Percent of First-Quarter Allowances Successfully Paid

According to the statement, a total of TZS 174 billion was allocated for meals and accommodation allowances for the first quarter of the 2025/2026 academic year. As of the announcement date, HESLB had already disbursed TZS 155,410,071,597, representing 90 percent of the planned allocation.

HESLB noted that the substantial completion of these payments reflects ongoing coordination with institutions and payment systems to support student welfare during the academic year. Guidance for Students Who Have Not Yet Received Payments

HESLB advised that any beneficiary who has completed university registration procedures but has not yet received their allowance should take immediate steps to resolve the issue. Such students are encouraged to report to their Loan Officer at their respective institutions so that the matter can be formally submitted to HESLB for resolution.

The Board further urged students who were allocated loans but have not yet reported to their institutions to do so promptly and ensure they are registered in the Digital Disbursement System (DiDiS). This registration is necessary to facilitate digital allowance payments.

Bank and Payment Information Support

For students experiencing challenges related to payment details, HESLB recommended direct communication with the respective banks involved in the payment process. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date banking information remains a key requirement for successful disbursement.
