Government Announces 1086 Health Sector Job Vacancies via Public Service Recruitment Secretariat
Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania government has announced 1,086 job openings in the health sector through the Public Service Employment Secretariat, aiming to strengthen service delivery in ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), and local government authorities (LGAs).
According to announcement reference No. JA.9/259/01/C/20 dated February 13, 2026, the largest share of vacancies targets Medical Officer Grade II, with 492 positions available. The recruitment also prioritizes other key healthcare cadres to support clinical and community health services across the country.

Breakdown of Available Positions
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat has distributed the vacancies across several professional health categories as follows:
- Medical Officer Grade II – 492 positions
- Assistant Environmental Health Officer Grade II – 172 positions
- Assistant Nursing Officer Grade II – 100 positions
- Assistant Medical Officer Grade II – 90 positions
- Dental Surgeon Grade II – 65 positions
- Nursing Officer Grade II – 50 positions
- Physiotherapist Grade II – 39 positions
- Biomedical Equipment Engineer Grade II – 31 positions
- Dental Therapist Grade II – 30 positions
- Specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology Doctor Grade II – 17 positions
The recruitment drive is intended to reinforce healthcare capacity in public institutions and improve service delivery across government facilities.
Qualifications and Professional Registration Requirements
The Secretariat has outlined specific professional requirements for each cadre:
- Medical Doctor applicants must hold a medical degree, have completed internship training, and be registered by the Tanganyika Medical Council.
- Nursing cadres require a degree or diploma and registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Biomedical equipment engineers must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania.
- Assistant environmental health officers must possess a diploma in environmental health sciences and registration with the Environmental Health Practitioners Council.
General Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must:
- Be citizens of Tanzania
- Be not older than 45 years
For military institution posts, age limits differ:
- Up to 25 years for non-degree holders
- Up to 30 years for degree holders
