Official Date Confirmed for Class of 2025 Matric Results Announcement
The Department of Basic Education has formally confirmed the official date for the announcement of the Class of 2025 matric results, providing clarity to students, parents, and schools nationwide. Despite a recently identified localized exam irregularity, authorities have stated that the national schedule remains unchanged and that the results will be released as planned.
January 12 Set for Official Announcement
Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube confirmed that the Class of 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results will be announced on 12 January 2026. Addressing public concerns, the minister stated that the discovery of irregularities in a small number of scripts from seven schools in Pretoria would not delay the release.
“The results will be released on schedule on January 12,” the minister said, underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining the national timetable.
Localised Breach Contained, Investigation Underway
According to the department, the breach involved a limited number of leaked examination papers and was detected early and contained swiftly. A National Investigative Task Team has been established to conduct a thorough investigation. The minister emphasised that no final results have been approved and that all integrity checks within the national marking system are continuing without interruption.
She added that the department’s multi-layered security and quality-assurance processes are functioning as intended, ensuring the credibility of the examination outcomes.
Marking and Verification Remain on Track
The minister expressed confidence that marking, moderation, and verification processes will be completed in time for the planned announcement. “Honest learners will not be disadvantaged,” she reiterated, confirming that the department remains focused on delivering credible and reliable results on the confirmed date.
