NECTA Releases 2026 Form Six Examination Timetable, Exams to Start in May

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has released the official 2026 Form Six (Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education – ACSEE) Examination Timetable, confirming that the national examinations will commence in the first week of May 2026.

The timetable, issued under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, outlines a structured examination period running through May, combining written papers and practical assessments for Advanced Level candidates across the country.

Examinations Begin on 4 May 2026

According to the official schedule, examinations will begin on Monday, 4 May 2026, with General Studies set for the morning session. Afternoon sessions on the opening day will include papers such as History 1, Chinese Language 1, Biology 1, and Accountancy 1, depending on subject combinations.

NECTA has organized the examinations into two daily sessions. Most morning papers are scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while afternoon papers will run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a format that will be maintained throughout the examination period.

Wide Range of Subjects Scheduled

The released timetable covers all major Advanced Level subjects, including languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities, professional studies, religious subjects, and fine arts. Each examination paper is clearly identified by its subject code, ensuring uniformity and clarity for candidates and examination centers.

Subjects scheduled include, among others, Kiswahili, English Language, French Language, Arabic Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Economics, Accountancy, Computer Science, Agriculture, Food and Human Nutrition, Divinity, Islamic Knowledge, Fine Art, and Physical Education.

Practical Examinations Extend into Late May

In addition to written papers, the timetable allocates specific dates for practical examinations, particularly for science and technical subjects. Practical assessments for Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Fine Art are scheduled from mid-May 2026, with some sessions extending to 25 May 2026.

Most practical examinations are planned for late-morning hours, commonly running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:20 p.m., as indicated in the official timetable.
