KUCCPS 2026 Placement Application Now Open: Key Dates, Courses & How to Apply
The KUCCPS 2026 Placement Application has officially opened, giving thousands of students an opportunity to apply for placement to universities, colleges, and TVET institutions. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced that the online application window began on April 7, 2026, and will remain open until May 6, 2026.
This application targets the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates as well as Form Four leavers from previous years. The process is a key step for students seeking admission into higher education institutions across the country.
The KUCCPS 2026 Placement Application allows eligible candidates to apply for both degree and TVET programmes, depending on their KCSE performance. Students applying for degree courses will join universities from September, while those selected for TVET programmes may report to their institutions starting May, as TVET placement is conducted on a continuous basis.
KUCCPS reported that 980,444 candidates were eligible from the 2025 KCSE examination. Out of these, 268,700 attained a mean grade of C+ and above, qualifying for degree programmes in 43 public and 31 private universities. The remaining 711,744 candidates, who scored between C plain and E, are eligible for placement in public colleges and other TVET institutions.
In terms of available opportunities, universities have a total capacity of 322,396 for degree programmes. Meanwhile, middle-level colleges offer 1,132,531 slots across diplomas, certificates, artisan courses, and other TVET levels. Secondary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) have an additional capacity of 2,480.
The minimum requirement for degree programmes remains a mean grade of C+ (plus).
For TVET courses, candidates with KCSE grades ranging from A to E, who sat for exams between 2000 and 2025, are eligible to apply. Students with C+ and above can also apply for degree programmes at the Open University of Kenya.
Placement will be conducted based on merit, taking into account applicants’ course choices, KCSE performance, and the available capacity in institutions. All submitted programmes and capacities have been approved by relevant regulators, including the Commission for University Education (CUE) and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).

It also ensures that placement is conducted fairly and transparently, as required by the Universities Act, 2012, using merit and institutional capacity as key factors.
What Applicants Should Do Next
Students are required to submit their applications through the KUCCPS online portal https://students.kuccps.net/Â within the stated period. KUCCPS will deploy officers to universities and TVET institutions across all counties to assist applicants during the process. Support will also be available at Huduma Centres nationwide.
Applicants interested in Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) programmes should note that KUCCPS has already completed placement for the March 2026 intake. However, eligible candidates will have another opportunity to apply for the September 2026 intake after the current placement process is completed.
