Examination Schedule Overview
The timetable released by NECTA indicates that the examination period will run for approximately two weeks. During this period, candidates will sit for papers covering education foundations, subject teaching methods, and academic subjects relevant to secondary education training.
Examinations are scheduled in two daily sessions:
- Morning Session (A.M.): 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. depending on the subject
- Afternoon Session (P.M.): 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The timetable also includes several practical examinations, particularly in science and vocational subjects, reflecting the practical competencies required for diploma-level teacher training.
Opening Day of the Examination
The examination period will officially begin on Monday, 4 May 2026 with a combination of practical and theoretical papers.
During the morning session, candidates will sit for Biology 2A (Practical) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Book Keeping Teaching Methods from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In the afternoon session, examinations will continue with Mathematics from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., alongside Home Economics 2 (Planning Session) scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
DSEE Examinations Scheduled During the First Week
Throughout the first week, candidates will sit for several core academic and teaching methodology papers.
On Tuesday, 5 May 2026, candidates will take History during the morning session and Physics 2A (Practical) later in the morning, while Agriculture Teaching Methods will be conducted in the afternoon.
The following day, Wednesday, 6 May 2026, will feature examinations in English Language, Chemistry 2A (Practical), and Commerce Teaching Methods in the morning session, followed by Elimu ya Dini ya Kiislamu in the afternoon.
On Thursday, 7 May 2026, practical assessments will continue with Biology 2B (Practical), Computer Science 2 (Practical), and Home Economics 2 (Practical) scheduled in the morning, while Geography will be examined in the afternoon session.
The first week of DSEE will conclude on Friday, 8 May 2026 with Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation in the morning and Curriculum and Teaching in the afternoon.
Examinations in the Second Week
The second week of will begin on Monday, 11 May 2026, when candidates will sit for Chemistry 2B (Practical) and Home Economics 1 during the morning session. The afternoon session will include Physics 1.
On Tuesday, 12 May 2026, the morning session will feature Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, followed by Communication Skills in the afternoon.
The examination schedule will continue on Wednesday, 13 May 2026 with Foundations of Education in the morning and Development Studies in the afternoon.
On Thursday, 14 May 2026, candidates will sit for Computer Science 1 and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) during the morning session, while Educational Media and Technology will be examined later in the afternoon.
The examinations will proceed on Friday, 15 May 2026, beginning with Chemistry 1 in the morning and concluding the day with Biology 1 in the afternoon.
Final Examination Session
The final paper in the timetable will take place on Monday, 18 May 2026, when candidates will sit for Chemistry 2C (Practical) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
