The announcement confirms the performance status of candidates across teacher training colleges, outlines national pass rates, and provides official procedures for accessing and querying results.

This release marks the conclusion of the assessment cycle for trainee primary school teachers who have taken the national certificate examinations, with results now available through the official MANEB results portal and institutional electronic registration platforms.

Overall Performance Summary

A total of 2,997 candidates sat for the examinations. Out of these, 2,969 candidates passed, representing an overall 99.07% pass rate.

To qualify as successful, each candidate was required to pass all seven subjects, including Teaching Practice, making the results a comprehensive measure of both academic knowledge and practical teaching competence.

Performance by Gender

Male Candidates

  • Passed: 1,203
  • Pass Rate: 97.93%

Female Candidates

  • Sat: 1,781
  • Passed: 1,766
  • Pass Rate: 99.16%

The results show a slightly higher success rate among female candidates compared to male candidates in the IPTE 19 PTCE examinations.

Special Needs Education Candidates

  • Sat: 36
  • Passed: 35
  • Pass Rate: 97.22%

The performance among Special Needs Education candidates remained strong, closely aligned with the overall national pass rate.

Top Performing Teacher Training Colleges

Based on the proportion of grades A and B, the five best-performing Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) were:

  1. Maryam Girls – 68.43%
  2. St Joseph – 61.81%
  3. Dowa – 57.54%
  4. Chiradzulu – 57.36%
  5. Phalombe – 52.00%

These institutions recorded the highest concentration of top grades among candidates in the IPTE 19 cohort.

Lowest Performing Teacher Training Colleges

The following colleges recorded the lowest proportion of grades A and B:

  1. Lilongwe (ISAMA) – 15.41%
  2. Alma – 17.51%
  3. Dream – 24.21%
  4. Blantyre (ISAMA) – 25.56%
  5. Theodora Van Rossum – 28.49%

Subject Performance Ranking

Performance across the seven subjects, measured by the proportion of A and B grades, ranked as follows:

  1. Chichewa – 48.52%
  2. Social and Religious Studies – 44.61%
  3. English – 44.43%
  4. Art and Life Skills – 35.27%
  5. Education Foundation – 26.73%
  6. Integrated Science and Technology – 26.16%
  7. Mathematics – 25.43%

Chichewa recorded the strongest performance, while Mathematics had the lowest proportion of top grades.
