Government Announces 5746 Youth Selected for Apprenticeship Training

The Government of Tanzania has announced that 5,746 youth have been selected for apprenticeship training in the 2025/2026 training year, from a total of 20,247 applicants nationwide. The programme is part of ongoing national efforts to equip young people with practical, job-ready skills and expand access to employment opportunities across the country.

Speaking on January 16, 2026, in Dodoma, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Employment and Labour Relations), Deus Clement Sangu, said the selection followed a completed verification process to ensure transparency and fairness. He confirmed that the successful candidates are scheduled to begin their training on January 19, 2026.

According to the minister, the official list of selected candidates for the 2025/2026 apprenticeship training programme has been published through the Prime Minister’s Office Labour and Employment portal, alongside announcements via national media outlets, newspapers, and social media platforms, starting January 17, 2026. The list includes the names of selected youth as well as the training institutions to which they have been assigned.

Minister Sangu emphasized that the apprenticeship training will be provided free of charge, with the government covering 100 percent of the training costs. He urged parents and guardians to encourage eligible youth to take advantage of the opportunity, describing the programme as a key pillar in strengthening the national workforce and improving youth employability.

He further called on all selected trainees to report to their assigned institutions on time and to observe discipline, commitment, and the rules and regulations of their respective training centres, noting that the programme is designed to prepare youth for both formal employment and self-employment in priority skills sectors.
