VETA Funds Vocational Training for 195 Students with Disabilities

The United Republic of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), has funded vocational training for a total of 195 students with disabilities across its colleges.

The funding was announced on 23 December 2025 by the VETA Director General, CPA Anthony Kasore, while presenting the results of student selection for the academic year beginning in January 2026. The announcement was made at VETA Headquarters in Dodoma.

CPA Kasore stated that VETA aims to ensure people with disabilities are given more opportunities to join vocational training programmes so they can acquire skills, improve their economic wellbeing, and participate effectively in economic activities. He explained that VETA continues to design and implement short-term training programmes in collaboration with stakeholders, while also giving priority to people with disabilities during admissions for long-term courses.

According to CPA Kasore, all 195 applicants with disabilities who applied to VETA colleges this year were considered. Of these, 145 have already been selected, while 50 are awaiting admission pending further analysis of course options and the capacity of VETA colleges.

He further clarified that VETA will fully cover training fees for all students with disabilities admitted in this intake. The funding will apply throughout the entire period of training, from Level One to Level Two.

“VETA will pay training fees for the full duration of the studies, from Level One to Level Two, for all students with special needs admitted this year,” CPA Kasore said, emphasizing that the goal is to remove barriers related to training costs, infrastructure, and learning tools.

CPA Kasore also noted that VETA continues to improve training infrastructure within its colleges and to provide specialized training to instructors to better support learners with disabilities. He concluded by calling on stakeholders to support VETA’s efforts to fund vocational training for people with disabilities in both short-term and long-term programmes in the coming years.

This initiative highlights VETA’s continued commitment to inclusive vocational education by funding vocational training for 195 students with disabilities across its colleges.
